Navigate a healthier Christmas!
Tip #1
Decide before you go – The sight and smell of food can make sticking to a plan more difficult, especially if you are hungry. If you’re going out to a restaurant or pub, look at the menu online and decide what you are going to eat in advance and stick to it!
Tip #2
If dining out be the first to order. If you’re eating with people that are likely to order the most calorific thing on the menu, make sure you order first. Other people can influence our decisions without us really noticing
Tip #3
Eat before you go – if you’re hungry when you arrive, you may end up eating too much. To prevent this, eat a healthy snack before you go. A high protein snack like Greek yoghurt or even a spoonful of almond butter can help you from over eating.
Tip #4
Be the last person to finish – I’m not going to tell you to chew your food 16 times! Instead, chew every mouthful as much as possible before swallowing. Put down your utensils down between mouthfuls. Do not put another bite into your mouth until every morsel has gone! Sit on your hands if you need to! This will put less stress on your digestive system and help prevent bloating. It will also help improve your self-control and prevent you from overeating as it gives your satiety signals some time to kick in.
Tip #5
Volunteer yourself to be the driver. – Drink sparkling water from a wine class with a slice of lemon or lime!
